Are the Revolution Two WordPress Themes a Rip Off?
About a year ago I asked the question how do I start a blog? I got into WordPress using free WordPress themes but was never quite thrilled with the results. A while back I purchased the Revolution WordPress Themes and was absolutely thrilled with the purchase. Shortly after I started building blogs with it Brian Gardner announced that he had joined with Jason Schuller in a new venture and Revolution was going open source. That was great news for those that had not purchased the theme. The first thing I did was ask myself if the Revolution WordPress Theme was a rip off for those of us that had already spent our hard earned money to purchase it? Over the next month I waited to see what these new Revolution Themes were all about.
When Brian and Jason finally introduced the new themes now under the name Revolution Two, I quickly took a look at them. My first reaction was that these new Revolution Two themes were outstanding. My second reaction was disappointment for I realized that with my lack of technical experience and mental block when it comes to learning technical stuff I was not going to be able to use these new themes to the fullest extent. My only option was to pay for support if I really wanted to use them along with all the bells and whistles that were now available.
Actually the price of support seemed like a pretty good deal if you had not previously purchased the themes $99.95 for the one year Pro Package or $149.95 for Pro Plus life time support- about the same amount I had paid for the developer package. Sure they were offering a 25% discount for those that had purchased themes before Revolution went open source but I had already spent that much on scotch trying to calm myself down. I must tell you that I was not too pleased as I pulled out my credit card to pay for the support.
Now here is the great part. As you know I am a non-technical person that knows very little about code and theme design. For that matter I am certainly not a blogging guru of any kind. So I begrudgingly paid for the Revolution Two Pro Plus Theme Support and almost immediately started building a couple of new blogs. While I was building these blogs on the new themes I started using the Revolution Support Forum daily and sometimes several times a day. As I ran into problems I would check the forum for an answer. If no one had asked the question yet I would ask it. Actually to many of you some of my questions would seem trivial but to this non-techie they seemed as complicated as a heart transplant. Almost immediately I received answers from one of the Revolution owners, forum staff or a forum member.
Believe me when I say that within a week or two the assistance I received more than paid for the lifetime support fee. I am 67 years old and plan on living another 20 to 30 years and more if God will allow me too. That’s a money making investment and any of you that are invested in the stock market realize we don’t get many of those these day.
So is the Revolution WordPress Theme Support a rip off? As far as I am concerned it is one of the best investments you can make. On top of that if you help this old man out and join through the links on this forum I will make a few bucks and with a 9-year-old grandson in the house that still has college ahead I can use all the help I can get.
