Success or Failure in the Internet Business
When I started looking at ways to start a blog and make money on the Internet my search started on Google. Man my head spun as I read countless articles on the obstacles on the failure to success in the Internet business and even more articles and ads with get rich quick schemes. For a long time I read article after article by many of the so-called Internet gurus some of which had great ideas and others that only wanted to sell you their latest promotion. Month after month I would build new blogs, try different free and premium WordPress Themes, try new affiliate programs and watch my wallet get slimmer and slimmer as I purchased products and joined programs promising riches.
Today I am much more targeted. For most all of my projects the WordPress themes that I use are by StudioPress. While these are premium themes I spent $199.95 and became a Pro Plus member entitling me to all themes they now have and add in the future along with unlimited theme support answered by the StudioPress experts. Yes it is a bite when you are just starting out and don’t have the extra $200 but for me it was a great decision. The other good move for me was becoming a member of PPCKahuna. Of all of the Internet Gurus out there my favorite has been Jason Katzenback. Like the other gurus Jason is in business to make money but I found that he like Brian Gardner of StudioPress really care about helping others become successful in the Internet business.
Here are 5 things that I have learned along the way:
Be Careful of the Frauds
You need to watch out for the frauds. The Internet is full of people only wanting to dump their junk on you. They sound like experts, are offering the best training, service or product since sliced bread and are promising you that you will quickly get rich.
The Get Rich Quick
It is only human nature to get into something and want to make money right away. There is certainly nothing wrong with that and some people do. The truth though is that most of us have to work at it a bit before making any real money. Throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks is not the way to do it. Doing it without any financial and time expenditure at all is highly unlikely.
Gaining Experience
Experience in one industry does not make you an expert in another. Knowing how to use a computer and search the Internet does not make you an Internet expert. You can go it on your own and gain the experience over months or years or you can get mentored by an expert such as Jason Katzenback and PPCKahuna and succeed much quicker.
Tools of the Trade
You need the proper tools. You are not going to build a house without the right tools. You need the right tools to open any business and this includes the Internet business. There are lots of tools being promoted and some of them are great and others are junk. For me the best tools that I have found are the ones that came and continue to come free when I joined PPCKahuna. There are others out there but these tools have made my life a lot easier, made me more efficient and have been easy for me a techless blogger to use.
Information Overload
The Internet is a great source of information and much of it is free. Sometimes we start following too many different “gurus” and become confuses and frustrated. Many of them have different ideas about how to do things and some of them are all talk. Whether you follow Jason Katzenback or someone else limit the number of people that you follow. As you learn the business you may follow more of them over time but until you start building a strong foundation and learn the business limit the confusion and this will help you reduce the frustration.

Are the Revolution Two WordPress Themes a Rip Off?
About a year ago I asked the question how do I start a blog? I got into WordPress using free WordPress themes but was never quite thrilled with the results. A while back I purchased the Revolution WordPress Themes and was absolutely thrilled with the purchase. Shortly after I started building blogs with it Brian Gardner announced that he had joined with Jason Schuller in a new venture and Revolution was going open source. That was great news for those that had not purchased the theme. The first thing I did was ask myself if the Revolution WordPress Theme was a rip off for those of us that had already spent our hard earned money to purchase it? Over the next month I waited to see what these new Revolution Themes were all about. Read more
